Singer/songwriter Olivia, once front woman of G Unit, is now gearing up for a whole new beginning and phase in her life. Olivia, who put the sex in sexy in videos “Candy Shop” and “Best Friend”, is now on the next plateau of her career.

She will be releasing a new album under new management. Rich Dollaz, founder of Dollaz Unlimited, is Olivia’s new management team that will see her soar to new heights. Examiner.com recently sat down with Olivia to talk how she began in the business, her departure from G-Unit, and the R&B competition she has out there.

What was the defining moment in your life that you decided you wanted to become a singer?

I was probably 12, I think, when I first started writing poetry. My first work of poetry was published in the book “Shadows and Light”. That’s what made me want to become a writer first. Then when I was 15, I was always listening to Monica and Brandy’s music and that’s when I knew I wanted to become a singer.

You worked with R&B singer, Joe. How was it working with him?

It was amazing. His work ethic is like mine. He works at whatever hour, it didn’t matter what time. It was constant writing and working. He was the first person who got me playing guitar. So he was a very big influence on me.

Why did you depart from G-Unit? What was it like working with 50 Cent?

Working with 50 was very good. He is a teddy bear, despite what people think. There just was no R&B person at the label. It was pretty much rap formulated. He marketed me as a rap artist and that was it!

With all the Ciaras and Ashantis out there right now, where do you see yourself fitting into the music scene?

Well, I can actually sing. My mother had me in the church since age 4 and being around all the musical influences that I had, added to everything. I wouldn’t compare to myself to other artists anyway and other artists wouldn’t want to be compared anyone else either because we are all different in our own ways. I don’t even consider myself an R&B artist because I do all types of music.

Your music is very sex appeal driven—is this a precursor of what the rest of the album will be like?

Some if it is sexy, some it is party. The whole concept is about love, though.

Do you plan on visiting Buffalo, NY?

You can plan on it! Probably near the end of December or January.
